How to choose a sauna hat — and why wool wins

Felted wool, synthetic or no hat at all. A short read on what actually matters at 90 degrees.

A sauna hat does one thing: it keeps your head and ears cooler than the surrounding air. That is why you last longer.

Felted wool works best because it insulates dry heat without getting heavy. Synthetics either melt in the heat or start to smell after a few weeks.

Buy one that covers the ears. Ears overheat first and are the first reason people stand up early.

Care: rinse in lukewarm water when needed, dry flat. No machine, no tumble dryer.
